Peg Maas, PT, DPT, WCS, CLT
Doctor of Physical Therapy, Pelvic Health and Women’s Health Clinical Health Specialist. She is a member of the Clinical Faculty at the University of Washington and a Clinical Lecturer at University of Puget Sound. Dr. Mass has spoken at many regional and national conferences on topics related to pelvic health, women's health, spine care, and mindfulness-based stress reduction. |
Neil Hyman MD, FACS, FASCRS
Dr. Hyman is Professor of Surgery, Chief of the Section of Colon and Rectal Surgery and Co-director of the Center for Digestive Diseases at the University of Chicago Medicine. Dr. Hyman is widely recognized leader in the treatment of colon and rectal cancers, inflammatory bowel disease and complex colorectal problems. He has authored over 225 peer-reviewed original articles and textbook chapters. Dr. Hyman serves on many regional and national committees, and is a member of numerous national organizations and societies. He has been President of the Vermont Chapter of the American College of Surgeons, Associate Editor of Diseases of the Colon and Rectum, and Chaired the ACS Advisory Council for Colon and Rectal Surgery and the Council for Advisory Council Chairs. He is now President of the American Society of Colon and Rectal Surgeons, Director of the American Board of Colon and Rectal Surgery, serves on the Editorial Board of the Annals of Surgery, as Co-Editor of Journal of Gastrointestinal Surgery and as the Co-chair for the Crohn’s and Colitis Foundation Surgery Research Network. |
Ashraf Hanna MD, PHD
Ashraf Hanna is currently the CEO of Genalyte, an technology diagnostic company focused on making diagnostic testing available and immediate. Previously he was at Verily, where he was Chief Operating Officer who helped lead the company in its first 510k approval and set of Covid testing sites. Prior to that Ashraf was the CEO at ORIC Pharmaceuticals, a company focused on developing drugs for resistant cancers. Ashraf led the company from concept through preclinical and starting Phase 1 clinical trials. ORIC had an IPO at approximately $1B valuation while still in Phase 1. Ashraf spent over a decade at Genentech as Vice President and head of Alliance Management, Portfolio Prioritization, and head of Commercial and Medical Affairs Finance. He started his work career at McKinsey, has a PhD in Physics from Harvard, and an M.D. from the University of Massachusetts. He studied Physics and Economics as an undergraduate at the University of Chicago. |
Mark Soliman, MD, FACS, FASCRS
Dr. Soliman is a board-certified colon and rectal surgeon. He is the Medical Director of Colorectal Surgery for the AdventHealth Digestive Health and Surgery Institute and also the Department Chairman for Colorectal Surgery. A Florida native and a proud graduate of the University of Florida, he was part of an elite junior medical program through which he earned both his undergraduate and medical degrees with honors by age 23. After serving as Chief Resident at Baptist Health System in Birmingham, AL, he obtained his advanced subspecialty training in Colorectal Surgery at the Colon and Rectal Clinic of Orlando. Dr. Soliman is one of the most recognized colorectal surgeons nationwide in robotic colorectal surgical operations and has written nearly 50 book chapters, scientific abstracts, and manuscripts on this and its related fields. |

Farshid Araghizadeh, MD, MBA, FASCRS[MOU1]
Farshid Araghizadeh, MD is a board certified Colon & Rectal Surgeon with Texas Digestive Disease Consultants (TDDC) & The GI Alliance (TGIA), the largest digestive diseases practice in the world. Dr. Araghizadeh’s focuses on minimally invasive and robotic approaches to all colorectal disorders including colon and rectal cancer, colon polyps, Inflammatory Bowel Disease (Crohn’s disease and Ulcerative Colitis), diverticulitis, as well as complex hernia repairs and abdominal wall reconstruction. Dr. Araghizadeh serves on the Medical City - Alliance Hospital Robotic Surgery, Surgical Advisory, and Professional Practice Evaluation Committees. He is an associate examiner for the American Board of Surgery Certifying (Oral) Examination. Dr. Araghizadeh is also a past President of the Texas Society of Colon and Rectal Surgeons. He has authored several textbook chapters and a number of academic papers, and he has presented scores of invited and teaching lectures, presentations, and abstracts, nationally and internationally, and has served on many national committees dedicated to setting the standard of care for colon and rectal disorders. |

The Board has agreed to proceed with a LIVE meeting in Monterey, CA. We will be sending our hotel and registration information soon. So we hope you will join us.

Please mark your calendars and join us for the 2021 Northwest Society of Colon and Rectal Surgeons meeting.
The meeting will be held July 21-24, 2021 at the beautiful Monterey Tides Resort in Monterey, CA (http://www.montereytides.com/).
This agenda for the meeting includes a panel of outstanding and globally renowned speakers. We hope to have an exciting discourse on medical, technical and surgical concepts, including in-depth discussion of new, controversial, and challenging colorectal topics.
In addition the program will include video and abstract sessions, as well as a forum for resident and fellow involvement with great prizes.
We hope the meeting will not only be educational but fun for you and your family. There are plans for all the wonderful recreational activities sunny Monterey has to offer including a beach party, opportunities for kayaking, surfing, golfing as well as others…. Please feel free to bring your family to this educational and fun meeting.

Room rates: $275 - $325 per night
General Policy:
Cancellation Policy: Canceling your reservation before 4pm (local hotel time) 3 days prior to the arrival date will result in no charge. Canceling your reservation after this time will result in a cancellation penalty of 1-night and tax charge.
Pet Policy: A charge of $50 per stay is applicable for one pet and a charge of $75 per stay is applicable for a maximum of two pets.
General Policy:
- 24-Hour Front Desk
- Check-in Time: 4 pm
- Check-out Time: 11 am
- Early Departure Charge - is 1-night room and tax
- Guests must be at least 18 years of age to rent a room
- Rollaway beds are available for a nightly charge of $20
- Cribs are available at no charge, subject to availability
- Credit card holder must be present at time of check-in
