** Update on Yosemite Fire **
7/17/18 at 11:12 am
There is currently a forest fire in Ferguson near the Yosemite National Park. Highway 140 is closed north of Mariposa due to firefighting activities. The Tenaya Lodge (located on Highway 41) notified us yesterday that they remain open and anticipate no closure at this time. While we are monitoring the situation closely, the meeting will proceed as planned unless we are prevented by the conditions. At this point today it is still feasible to go. Hopefully it will continue that way next week.
Should the situation changes, we will notify everyone as soon as possible.

59th Annual Meeting
25-28 July 2018
I hope everyone is getting ready for the 59th Annual Meeting of NWSCRS at the beautiful Tenaya Lodge, just south of Yosemite National Park. Yosemite is the third oldest National Park in the United States (1890). Jeffrey Manchio has put together a wonderful meeting with great speakers. Please make your reservations for the meeting and lodging.
This year, I am in charge of the local arrangements. Yosemite National Park and Grove of Giant Sequoia in Sequoia National Park are located close to our meeting. We hope that you will have a chance to enjoy their beauty and grandeur. Reservations must be obtained early if you wish to participate in activities. If you do not sign up early, you may get to the meeting and not be able to find space available to participate.
Thursday night will be the only night to eat out. If you have never been to the Ahwahnee Hotel (The Majestic Yosemite Hotel) in Yosemite National Park this is a great time to visit. If you wish to have dinner in their grand dining hall, you must make reservations. You may still be able to get reservations now, but once they are booked up, you will miss this opportunity. Go to your search engine and put in The Majestic Yosemite Hotel and ask OpenTable to book your reservation.
You may want to sign up for other events, too.
I will give you a list of activities and you can make your arrangements. These activities will be near the hotel or in the national park.
Horse Rides
Valley Activities in Yosemite National Park (the park is at least one hour drive away on winding road)
